This model originated in 1882 and is named; after the play Fédora, written by Victorien Sardou and starring Sarah Bernhardt in the title role of Princess Fédora Romazov, she wore a soft, wrinkled brimmed hat in the center. After 1924, when Prince Edward of Great Britain started wearing them, Fedora was adopted by men and became part of their fashion replacing bowler hats, flat hats, and top hats.
