Description
The Montecristi, is considered the first model of existing panama hat, was very common among peasants. It is very similar to a Boater but the Montecristi has a higher and round crown.
Origin of this style
The Montecristi is the first Panama hat model in history. In the year 1630, the indigenous Domingo Choez created the first Toquilla straw hat (Panama hat), in his try to create a version of the Cordobes hat made entirely of straw. The Montecrisiti is different from the Cordobes because it has a rounded crown and a shorter brim, it was a model very used by peasants from Montecristi and Jipijapa.
